Ever Wonder If You Are Really Being Listened To?

Are you being listened to and really heard?

It’s easy to assume that when we speak, especially to people we trust, we’re being fully received.

That they’re dialled in. Present. Absorbing our words.

But so often, they’re not.

Not because they don’t care.

But because they’re preoccupied. Distracted. Holding their own quiet worries in the background.

You might be talking about something that matters deeply to you —

but their mind is somewhere else.

Tomorrow’s to-do list. A work issue. Their own emotional weight.

And here’s the thing: it’s not personal.

It’s not rejection.

It’s just that they’re not in the right space to truly hear you.

So what can you do?

You can continue — but let go of the need to feel fully heard in that moment.

Or you can pause.

Check in.

“Is now a good time?”

“Do you have space to really hear me right now?”

Because trying to pour your heart out to someone who can’t hold it…

can leave you feeling more unseen than before you spoke.

Protect your energy.

Choose your moments.

And remember: being heard is powerful — but being truly received is everything.
